Protect Against Prostate Cancer
There are plenty of ways to enhance our nutrition and protect ourselves from a variety of chronic and debilitating illnesses. For men, prostate cancer is no exception.
Minimize starch and sugar.
Starchy foods, such as white bread or rice, and sugary foods, such as candies and sodas, trigger inflammation in the body. Studies have shown that men who ate the most amounts of starchy and sugary foods had a greater chance of getting an advanced form of prostate cancer.
It is said that age is one of the factors that people have no control over, but there are modifications that one can make in one’s diet to reduce the risk of developing the said cancer. Broccoli, leafy greens, raw cashews, walnuts, pumpkin ans squash seeds, and grass fed beef are great sources of omega 3’s and zinc, both important for protecting the prostate. Choosing to eat a healthy diet is the better choice.
Eating more fats that come from plants may also help protect against prostate cancer. Olive oil, coconut oil and avocado oil, as well as the whole foods containing those oils, are great examples. Increasing one’s intake of vegetables and fruits has a lot of other great benefits, as well. As with all foods, you should look for organic, non-GMO foods.
